Our Institute’s Energy-Efficient Semiconductor Advisor Team, Led by Academician Shi Yi, Named Outstanding Advisor Team in the First National Graduate Supervisor Community Awards

    The Award Ceremony for Outstanding Graduate Supervisors and Teams of the First National Graduate Supervisor Development Community was recently held in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. The Energy-Efficient Semiconductor Advisor Team of our institute, headed by Academician Shi Yi, has been honored as an Outstanding Graduate Supervisor Team of the National Graduate Supervisor Development Community. The accolade recognizes the team’s remarkable accomplishments in graduate education, scientific innovation and industry-education integration, and stands as a solid testament to our institute’s leading strength in cultivating high-caliber talents and building excellent supervisor teams.

    Initiated and guided by the Ministry of Education and jointly founded by a host of prestigious universities nationwide, the National Graduate Supervisor Development Community is a national collaborative platform dedicated to advancing the high-quality development of graduate supervisor teams in the new era. After strict review and selection, only 40 teams across the country received this honor. Our team’s selection is a high recognition of its long-standing dedication to frontline teaching and commitment to serving national strategic priorities.

    Centered on Academicians Zheng Youliao and Shi Yi, the Energy-Efficient Semiconductor Advisor Team has formed a tiered talent pool featuring academician leadership, core leading scholars and young promising researchers. The team comprises 9 national-level talents and 3 national outstanding young talents, and has developed a distinctive education model that integrates ideological and political guidance, research-driven training and industry-education collaboration. Its core members include Shi Yi, Wang Xinran, Liu Bin, Ye Jiandong, Gu Shulin, Chen Dunjun, Lu Hai, Tao Tao, Fu Yuxiang and Zheng Youliao.Closely responding to the major demands of China’s integrated circuit and semiconductor industries, the team has undertaken a number of key research tasks, including projects under the National Key R&D Program of China, the Innovative Research Groups of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Jiangsu Provincial Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program, as well as forward-looking industry-university-research joint projects. To date, the team has secured 14 teaching and research awards at national, provincial and ministerial levels, among which are the Second Class Prize of the National Natural Science Award, the Second Class Prize of the National Technological Invention Award and the Second Class Prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award. It has achieved fruitful outcomes in both scientific research and talent cultivation.

    Upholding the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, the team leverages high-level research to boost teaching quality in graduate training. It has nurtured dozens of outstanding talents at national, provincial and ministerial levels. More than 80 percent of its graduates have devoted themselves to core fields including semiconductors and integrated circuits, providing a large cohort of backbones for the independent innovation of China’s chip and energy-efficient electronics industries.

    This award marks a major milestone in the development of our college’s supervisor team. Moving forward, the School of Electronic Science and Engineering will take this honor as a new starting point. We will give full play to the exemplary role of outstanding supervisor teams, further improve the training, management and incentive mechanisms for supervisors, and deepen the practice of research-oriented education, practical training and industry-education integration. The college will keep enhancing the overall quality of graduate education, and make greater contributions to achieving self-reliance and strength in semiconductor technology and building a powerful technological nation.
